The Catholic Schools Office was established to inaugurate, administer and supervise the educational program in the Catholic schools of the diocese. Headed by the superintendent of schools, the office is responsible for assuring that quality education is provided to the 5,194 students in the 17 elementary and 5 high schools. The office also coordinates accreditation, policy development, curriculum, testing and training for the approximately 571 teachers serving in the schools.

All of the diocesan schools follow an accreditation process that is prescribed by the Texas Catholic Conference, approved by the Texas Education Agency, and directed by the diocesan superintendent’s office. Schools with an asterisk are overseen by a board that is independent of the diocese.

Strategic Plan for Catholic Schools

The Diocese of Austin has developed a Strategic Plan for Catholic Schools in order to ensure their viability and to sustain the contributions they make to the Catholic Church of Central Texas. Thanks to the members of the Strategic Planning and Steering Committees and the Diocesan School Board for their many months and countless hours of hard work. To read the plan, use the link below.
