Job Description: 

The part-time Director of School Liturgical Music will lead the Liturgical School Choir, select and lead the music for weekly school Masses and other school liturgies, and will work with a team of parish and school personnel to ensure and uphold the high quality liturgical life of the school community.

Duties: 

Directs the Liturgical School Choir.
Accompanies the choir on piano
Selects and leads the music for weekly school Masses and other school liturgies.
Acts as the liturgical liaison between the school and the pastor.
Supervises sound check before Mass: checks microphones, adjusts sound board as needed; maintains batteries during Mass.
Assists with two all school concerts per academic year.
Participates in Diocesan Choir Festival.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Knowledge of liturgical guidelines and music in Catholic worship.
Knowledge of musical instruments.
Knowledge of hymns used in liturgical settings.
Expertise in directing a children’s choir.
Training in best practices, such as RSCM or Chorister’s Guild, in directing children’s liturgical choirs.
Proficiency in piano
Proven skills in keyboard accompaniment.
Excellent sight reading abilities.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in subject taught or related field from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country.

Experience:
Five years of directing children’s choirs

Certifications and Training:
Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
Must meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and school administration.
Must complete Religion Certification Part 1 within two years of the date of hire, completing a minimum of 25 hours each year.
Must maintain membership in professional associations as applicable to position, such as NPM and TMEA.
