This week, I gathered with our priests for our annual Convocation. It was a time of personal joy for me as their bishop as we prayed together, shared conversations and reflected on our vocation as priests. We also celebrated a Mass in which we remembered our brother priests who passed away this year. While the death of a fellow priest is a moment of initial loss, celebrating the Eucharist is one way to honor their ministry. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our excellent priests in the Diocese of Austin.
I invite you to join me at the annual White Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral in Austin. Medical professionals exercise their vocation inspired by the Divine Physician, our Lord Jesus. We pray in gratitude for the men and women called to heal, comfort, and console those suffering physically and emotionally. We pray especially that healthcare professionals will courageously use their God-given skills to protect the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.
With October dedicated to the Rosary, one of the most powerful Catholic devotions, we turn to our Lady of the Rosary, asking her intersession so that we may hear the call to never tire of serving one another.
