For almost 50 years we sadly recognized the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade allowing a woman to terminate the life of her unborn child. This year, as we celebrate the overturning of this decision, let us reflect on the countless lives lost and forever changed through abortion. We remember and pray for over 60 million babies killed in the womb. We pray for those women and men who suffer, often in silence, after experiencing the traumatic effects of abortion.
Tomorrow Masses will be celebrated in the Austin area at San José Parish, St. Louis Parish and the University Catholic Center at 10 a.m. followed by the Texas Rally for Life on the grounds of the State Capitol. Join me in praying for a society and government that continues to protect the gift of life.
As we find ourselves in this post Roe v. Wade world, may we tirelessly pray and persevere in advocating for the most vulnerable in our society. Recognizing God’s call to live the Gospel of Life, let us especially journey with those mothers who seek comfort and support as they carry life in their womb.
