Join me tomorrow morning, June 10, for a Holy Hour for Vocations. It will start at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Parish in Austin and include a morning of presentations followed by Eucharistic Adoration, and concluding with fellowship. If you are unable to join us in person or by livestream, I ask you to please join me in praying for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, better known as the Feast of Corpus Christi. In our diocese, we mark this great day with several opportunities to come together as the Mystical Body of Christ to celebrate the Eucharist, the central mystery of our faith.
This weekend, there are at least seven Eucharistic Processions taking place throughout the Diocese. It is my hope that many of you will accompany the Blessed Sacrament in procession in the public arena celebrating the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe vs. Wade, I remain grateful for the Court’s decision that upholds the gift of life given to us by God. We must remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure that the most vulnerable, the unborn, are protected, as well as committed to pray for and walk with the mothers who carry a child in their womb. And we must not waiver in our obligation to uphold the teaching of the Church which calls us to protect life from conception to natural death. Filled with Christ’s hope, let us turn to our Blessed Mother asking for her loving protection of all human life!
I ask for your prayers as I attend the annual Spring Plenary Session of the U.S. bishops. This year, we will discuss the Eucharistic Revival and Congress and the National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry, among other topics. Please pray that the Holy Spirit continue to work through us, infusing us with the strength and wisdom to do what God calls us.
