On June 18, the faithful of the Diocese of Austin joined to celebrate a Eucharistic Procession in honor of the Feast of Corpus Christi. The day began with Mass at 8:30 a.m. at San Jose Parish—Austin followed by a 1.5-mile procession with the Eucharist to St. Edward’s University. There, overlooking the city of Austin, we spent time in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by Benediction. Together we prayed and imparted a blessing on the city of Austin, and the entire diocese. On this day we took our Eucharistic Lord into the community to make known his real presence.
This day also marked the beginning of a three-year period of Eucharistic Revival for the U.S. Catholic Church and the Diocese of Austin. This is a time to reflect on the gift of Christ’s love – the gift of himself, present at every celebration of the Mass. Further, It is a time to recommit ourselves to the Catholic faith as we take his body into our own, becoming living tabernacles in the community.
I urge you to invite your family, friends, neighbors to join you on this three year journey recommiting ourselves to the experiencing our faith as one Body of Christ; may we begin this journey of Eucharistic renewal, reflection and rededication to his most precious body.
