On June 18, I invite the faithful of the Diocese of Austin to join me for a Eucharistic Procession in honor of the Feast of Corpus Christi. The day will begin with Mass at 8:30 a.m. at San Jose Parish—Austin followed by a 1.5-mile procession with the Eucharist to St. Edward’s University. There, overlooking the city of Austin, we will spend time in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by Benediction, which will impart a blessing on those present, the city of Austin, and the entire diocese. On this day as we take our Eucharistic Lord into the community to make known his real presence, we demonstrate our personal devotion and our oneness as the Mystical Body of Christ.
This day also marks the beginning of a three-year period of Eucharistic Revival for the U.S. Catholic Church and the Diocese of Austin. It is a time to reflect on the gift of Christ’s love – the gift of himself, who is present at every celebration of the Mass. Further, It is a time to recommit ourselves to the Catholic faith as we take his body into our own, becoming living tabernacles in the community.
I urge you to invite your family, friends, neighbors to join you on June 18th so that, together as one Body of Christ, we may begin this journey of Eucharistic renewal, reflection and rededication to his most precious body.
