The Season of Easter is 50 days. We prepare during Lent for 40 days, celebrate the Paschal Triduum for 3 (or 1 liturgical day) and then celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord for 50 days! The season goes from Easter Sunday through Pentecost.
The first 8 days of the Easter Season are called the Octave (which means 8). Those 8 days are celebrated like it is still Easter Sunday.
What other liturgical days fall during Easter?
There are many memorials and feasts that fall during the Easter Season. Of particular note are Divine Mercy Sunday (the Second Sunday of Easter), The Ascension of the Lord (the Seventh Sunday of Easter), and Pentecost (which marks the end of the Easter Season).
Are there special readings during Easter?
During the Easter Season, the first reading on Sundays is from the Acts of the Apostles where we get to hear about the start of the Church.
Can we say "Alleluia" now?
Yes! The Church joyfully sings (and says) Alleluia throughout Easter.
