Hosted by the Department of Family & Protective Services
When we have firearms in our homes, we must take certain steps to protect our children from unintentional shootings. Cook Children's Aim for Safety® program is designed to help reduce the number of injuries we see every year among children through gun safety education. This is not political and not about whether guns are right or wrong. It's about taking the necessary steps to protect our children.
This presentation will review statistics at a national, state, and local level, discuss risk factors for different age levels, and review various methods for safely storing firearms. We will discuss the importance of gun safety education for children at all ages, as well as the value of practicing coping skills to reduce the risk of self-harm or violence by firearms. Parents, caregivers, and professionals will leave with evidence-based best practices regarding the safe storage of firearms. Register at this link.
