Join Bishop Joe S. Vásquez and the Christian faithful as we commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with Lauren Warner of Boston College as the keynote speaker. The gathering will be held at Our Lady of Queen of Peace Chapel at St. Edward’s University in Austin.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER. Lauren Warner is a pastoral musician and theologian who is completing doctoral studies in the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. She previously served the local church through pastoral ministry in education, liturgy, sacred music, and culture. She served Holy Cross Parish as a pastoral musician, Saint Michael’s Catholic Academy as the chairperson of the Theology Department, and the Diocese of Austin as the coordinator of Black Ministry in the Secretariat of Life, Charity, and Justice.
DRUM MAJOR FOR JUSTICE AWARD RECIPIENT. Dr. Frank B. Ashley III is the acting Dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, and previously served as Vice Chancellor for Recruitment and Diversity and Chief of Staff of the Texas A&M University System. As a first-generation college graduate and as a person of color, he understands the importance of education. A permanent deacon, he serves faithfully the family of faith at Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish in College Station, and he works with the diocesan office of Life, Marriage, and Family.
