Healthcare workers bring God’s love and care to every person they meet seeking to heal the body and spirit. This special liturgy and evening honors our dedicated Healthcare Professionals as they continue the healing ministry of Christ. The Healthcare Mass — which was originally known as the White Mass for the white lab coats worn by many in the healthcare profession — dates back to the late 1800s and is held often near October 18, the feast day of St. Luke the Evangelist, the patron saint of physicians and surgeons.
