The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney with a group of men from the St. Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut, United States; and is the world's largest Roman Catholic fraternal service organization. It is named in honor of Christopher Columbus. There are more than 1.8 million members in more than 15,000 Councils worldwide. Its motto is "In Service to One, In Service to All".

The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. is the largest historically African-American Catholic lay organization in the United States. The Order is named for St. Peter Claver, the Spanish Priest who ministered to African slaves. The Order was founded in Mobile, Alabama and is presently headquartered in New Orleans. K of PC's purpose is to render service to God and His Holy Church, render aid and assistance to the sick and disabled, and promote social and intellectual association among our members.
