Bishop’s Statement on Violence in Austin and San Antonio

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
 
Yesterday, the cities of Austin and San Antonio experienced senseless acts of violence that claimed the lives of six people and injured others.  I am horrified by these tragic events that shook our communities.
 
Let us join in prayer asking God for healing and hope during this dark time. We must always uphold the sanctity of every human life and promote a culture of peace where the inherent dignity of every person is respected and protected.
 
I remain always grateful for our dedicated first responders and law enforcement whose duties often place them in harms way. May they return to their loved ones safely at the end of each day.
 
I ask the intercession of our Blessed Mother for those whose lives are forever changed. May they find strength, solace and comfort in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
