On November 11 the Holy Father, Pope Francis, appointed me apostolic administrator for the Diocese of Tyler. With these added responsibilities, I remain Bishop of the Diocese of Austin, and have begun to distribute my time between here and Tyler.
While this appointment will impact my presence at events and celebrations within the Diocese of Austin for a time, please know that I will strive to be present with you whenever possible. I do ask for your understanding and patience as it may be necessary for me to make some pastorally sensitive scheduling adjustments for the good of the faithful in Austin and Tyler.
Please be assured of my intention to provide ongoing spiritual support to you, our priests, deacons, seminarians and consecrated men and women. Let us pray for one another and for the People of God in the Diocese of Tyler as they await the appointment of their new bishop.
May the Lord Jesus bless you and your families with goodness and peace.
