Bishop Joe S. Vásquez of the Diocese of Austin expresses his heartfelt gratitude to Sara Ramirez for her eleven years of outstanding service as Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Central Texas (CCCTX). Sara has accepted the position of President and CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada in the Archdiocese of Las Vegas. Her tenure in Austin will conclude in early December.
Under Sara’s visionary leadership, CCCTX launched and expanded key initiatives, including mental health services and support for veterans. Her commitment to broadening social services throughout the Diocese increased the number of individuals served annually from 4,000 in 2013 to more than 14,000 today.
Please join Bishop Vásquez in thanking and congratulating Sara for her continued service to the Church as she and her family embark on this new chapter.
Reflecting on her time with CCCTX, Sara shared, “I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to work alongside compassionate colleagues and community leaders committed to our shared mission of strengthening families and promoting respect for human dignity and life. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated accomplishments, and supported countless individuals and families in meaningful ways. I am continually moved by the resilience and kindness within our community. I am profoundly honored to have contributed to the work of Catholic Charities of Central Texas.”
Bishop Vásquez is also pleased to announce that Allison Cavazos has been appointed Interim Executive Director. Allison brings more than a decade of exemplary service to the mission of Catholic Charities of Central Texas, where she will build upon the strong foundation of this Christ-centered organization.
“Sara leaves a remarkable legacy of carrying out the mission of Christ for those most in need in our cities, towns, and rural places. I am grateful to Allison Cavazos for accepting her new role as Interim Executive Director. I trust that, in partnership with me and the board of directors, CCCTX will continue to advocate for and accompany those most in need in the Diocese of Austin.” - Bishop Joe S. Vásquez
