The Lord has risen Alleluia! After walking with our Lord and one another for 40 days of Lent, and through the great gift of the Paschal Triduum where we commemorated the institution of the Eucharist, stood at the foot of the Cross with Jesus, and waited with all of creation in the silence of Saturday, we once again marked the Day the Lord Has Made: Easter Sunday!
It is out of a profound love for us that God the Father gave his only begotten Son for the salvation of the world. The empty tomb is a sign of his victory over death -- bringing light into our darkened world and a promise of a new life of grace.
Through the 50 days of Easter, we will continue to celebrate each Sunday in the light of Easter Sunday. Let us hold fast to the joy of the empty tomb and respond to God's call to serve others as he has served us. May our Easter joy help each of us to leave behind the burial cloths of sin and dysfunction and embrace the fullness of his love in all that we say and all that we do.
