After months of preparation, we are beginning to see the fruits of parish and regional listening sessions in the diocesan phase of the Synod. This experience is a spiritual journey, a moment in the church’s history inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. Thus far, during this synodal journey, I have had the opportunity to encounter the faithful at three regional listening sessions held around the diocese. With two more sessions in the next few weeks, I look forward to the continued engagement as we gather in communion with one another, listening to what God has placed on each person’s heart.
Please consider participating in an upcoming session. Your voice, the voice of this local church, is a key component to my ministry as bishop as it allows me to reflect, pray and act with courage upon the issues that we all face in daily life.
As we look toward the holy season of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday on March 2, I pray that we continue the synodal journey together to prepare for and discover the voice of the Living God. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary be with us and guide us into a full encounter with her Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.
