Vietnamese American families talk about leaving Saigon under the cover of night
“It was pandemonium,” one refugee said, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon. “Everybody just grabbed and just ran to the ships.”
Every year, Vietnamese communities gather to remember Black April. The event is meant to remember families and friends lost during the Fall of Saigon and the Vietnam War. But the event is also meant to educate the younger generation on their history, and move forward together.
