The vision of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is to deepen the local church’s communion with the Lord. The office seeks to equip individuals and parishes for Christian discipleship, which includes a fruitful sacramental life; to enliven the local church’s missionary impulse through spiritual formation and support so that Catholics may become more effective witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and to support the vital ministry of catechesis through the education and formation of parish catechists and ministry leaders.

The diocese, as the owner of property that has great monetary value, has the responsibility to be good stewards of all the assets enstrusted to it. The Facilities Office helps accomplish this by following diocesan policy and seeking the guidance of the experts serving the diocese. It is the joint responsibility of all involved to see that all construction projects reflect good stewardship.

The Finance Office supports the work of the diocese by providing an accounting of the stewardship of diocesan offices and parishes. The chief financial officer assists the bishop in directing and guiding the financial, business and administrative affairs of the diocese. The Legal Services department provides legal services, counsel and representation to the bishop, vicar general and the diocesan curia, as well as to the parishes and schools under the parish services agreements between the parishes and diocese. The department also coordinates the efforts of outside counsel that are used in matters involving litigation and special issues. The department reviews policies for compliance with various laws. The department participates in continuing education programs for parishes and schools in matters related to legal issues.

This committee works on behalf of the bishop of Austin to provide resources for the care of priests in the diocese. This includes their spiritual and physical well-being as well as ongoing formation to build on their natural gifts and talents or to provide enrichment in areas where priests may desire to grow. The committee plans workshops, days of reflection, annual retreats and the annual priest gatherings. It also assists with arrangements for priests who wish to go on sabbatical or attend other seminars outside the diocese.

The Office of Worship, charged by and working with the bishop of Austin, implements the vision of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. In cooperation with him, all new church construction is supported according to church documents and all liturgical prayer is nourished. The office also extends support to all Ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. Collectively, we strive to provide meaningful worship experiences that touch the hearts and minds of all parishioners. The Office of Worship serves as a resource center for liturgical ministry materials, ministry formation and consultation.

Young Adult Ministry aims to connect young adults between the ages of 18 and 39 with Jesus Christ and his challenge to live the Gospel. This ministry offers young adults support to live based on their Christian faith, where young adults see their search for identity, relationships, work and spiritual life in relation to Christ’s call to holiness, community and service.
