The OCIA is here!
As many of you know, we have been waiting for the publication of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. I am happy to let you know that it is available for pre-order (in English and Spanish and with study editions). There are a few publishers that are selling it, at different price points. Please remember you will need an English and Spanish ritual or a Bilingual edition.
They will be available in November 2024 but you can pre-order now. The first use date is December 1, 2024. The mandatory use date is March 5, 2025 (Ash Wednesday).
We will also be having more information on training for the new OCIA soon.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Christian initiation is accomplished by the reception of the three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. It is designed for adults* who after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts.
Rite of Christian Initiation 1There are several steps to the initiation process:
- First period is inquiry and ends with the celebration of the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of the Catechumenate
- Second period begins includes instruction in the Catholic faith and ends with the Rite of Election
- Third period is a time for enlightenment and purification and the celebration of the sacraments of initiation
- Fourth period extends through the whole of Easter season and is a time of deepening the Christian experience and for spiritual growth
* A child who has reached the age of reason is considered an adult
El Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos
La iniciación cristiana se realiza mediante la recepción de los tres sacramentos del Bautismo, la Confirmación y la Eucaristía. Está diseñado para adultos* que después de escuchar el misterio de Cristo proclamó, de manera consciente y libremente buscan al Dios vivo y emprenden el camino de la fe y la conversión como el Espíritu Santo abre los corazones.
Rito de Iniciación Cristiana 1Hay varios pasos en el proceso de iniciación:
- El primer período es la investigación y termina con la celebración del Rito de Aceptación en el Catecumenado.
- El segundo período empieza con la instrucción en la fe católica y termina con el Rito de Elección.
- El tercer período es un tiempo para la iluminación y la purificación y la celebración de los sacramentos de la iniciación.
- El cuarto período se extiende a través de toda la temporada de Pascua y es el momento de profundizar en la experiencia cristiana y para el crecimiento espiritual.
* Un niño que ha alcanzado la edad de la razón se considera un adulto
