  Saturday, November 4, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
  
  The DCCS Leader training will cover Lay Apostolate Formation (LAF) and Religious Emblem Counselor (REC). LAF is the process by which Catholic Scouters create greater awareness of our role to "seek the kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and by ordering them according to the plan of God." We will examine scouting as a form of youth ministry and our call to leadership, holiness, conversion, and worship through reflection on sacred scripture. REC training is for Catholic adults who wish to become certified as religious emblem counselors or any Catholic adult who assists in scouting.

  The DCCS Committee meets quarterly to assess the needs of our Catholic Scouting population and to plan age-appropriate events to foster a deeper appreciation of our faith. In addition, the committee sponsors adult training for religious emblem counselor roles. If you have a topic that you think needs to be addressed or would like to attend, please contact DCCS chair, Ronda Motl.

LAF/REC Training

November 4, 2023

Are you interested in facilitating a Religious Emblem program for middle and high school students (Ad Altre, Pope Pius XI, Mary the First Disciple, Missio, Women of Integrity)? Then register for our upcoming LAF / REC (Lay Apostolate Formation and Religious Emblem Couselor ) training scheduled for Saturday, November 4. Training will be held at the Diocese of Austin Pastoral Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Lay Apostolate Formation is the process by which Catholic Scouters create greater awareness of our role to "seek the kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and by ordering them according to the plan of God." Religious Emblem Counselor training prepares adults to lead scouts (grades 7 and above) on a faith journey in Catholic spirituality so that they can earn the Catholic religious emblems. Scout Sunday

The Scouts BSA annually celebrates its founding on Feb. 8. Scout Sunday is always the Sunday preceding Feb. 8, unless the 8th is a Sunday, in which case the 8th would be Scout Sunday. The NCCS has compiled resources regarding the celebration of Scout Sunday in the parish. Please send pictures from your parish's celebration to [email protected].
Girl Scout Sunday kicks off Girl Scout Week each March and it always includes Girl Scouts’ birthday, March 12. Girl Scout Sunday gives girls an opportunity to be recognized as a Girl Scout at their parish. Information on planning an event for Girl Scout Sunday can be found here.
