EIM Workshop attendance is required within two (2) months of beginning service in ministry and must be updated at least once every three (3) years to maintain compliance. Update/renewal should be done using the Online EIM Training for the duration of the pandemic.
The EIM Workshop is approximately 2 hours long and was developed to accomplish 3 goals: to reach out to those who have experienced sexual abuse (whether within the Church or not); to explain the commitments the US bishops made in 2002 to help prevent future abuse; and finally, to refresh our understanding of how to recognize warning signs of sexual abuse, interrupt the progression of grooming behavior and to provide tools and resources to respond in the event of a disclosure.
The EIM Workshop includes a frank discussion of sexual abuse;
if you have experienced sexual abuse and have concerns about viewing this training,
please contact Emily Hurlimann at (512) 949-2447 to discuss alternative training.
In-person EIM Workshops resumed in August 2020, are primarily for new applicants (and applicants with no prior EIM Workshop attendance) and are typically only for members of the host parish/school community for the duration of the pandemic.
If you are a new applicant who has submitted an EIM Application and needs to attend an EIM Workshop, contact your parish/school EIM site administrator regarding the status of an in-person EIM Workshop at your location.
You will sign up to attend the workshop through your parish/school EIM site administrator.
All pandemic safety protocols will be enforced at workshops (mask must be worn at all times, social distancing and sanitizing. Please bring your own pen).
Arrive early for a safe check-in; late arrivals are not admitted.
Do not bring children to the EIM Workshop.

We offer our deep appreciation to the Knights of Columbus for developing Protecting our Children: A Family’s Response and for sharing it with us to use for this training program; and particularly to Jeff & Judy and their family for sharing their story. We are also very thankful to the Government of Alberta, Canada, and the Alberta Abuse Awareness Network, for granting us permission to use their moving and insightful video Elder Abuse – Learn the signs and Break the silence as part of our online training.
